I am a freshly graduated computing student from Bournemouth University and am now looking to become a software developer based in London.
The first two years of my course covered techniques which are used throughout each stage of a development cycle. From modelling business processes in UML to produce requirements, to learning programming languages in order to build systems satisfying these requirements, to building databases to drive these applications, and even studying accounts and marketing in order to gain general business knowledge.
As part of my course I was lucky enough to be offered an Industrial Placement with Oracle Corporation working on Oracle Fusion. My main role in this project was to develop Employment team projects in JDeveloper using Oracle ADF (Application Development Framework).
My final year saw me specialising in Web Systems (WS), Advanced Development (AD), and Advanced Data Management (ADM). WS covered areas such as web development methodologies, e-business models, differences between traditional development and web development, usability, and website trust. AD delved into topics such as aspect oriented programming, web 2.0, service oriented architecture, REST and web services, middleware, test driven development, and eBusiness software technologies (BPEL). Finally ADM focused on data mining using WEKA covering topics such as predictive modelling techniques, association rules and clustering, how data mining is used in businesses, we also looked into OLAP, data warehousing, and distributed systems.
Anyway enough technical talk in my spare time I love going to festivals. I went to Reading in 2005 & 2008, Glastonbury in 2009 & 2010, Camden Crawl in 2009, and Dot to Dot in 2009. I prefer rock and indie music but can appreciate other music at the right place and time, nothing like stumbling across a new artist you haven’t heard before when lost at Glasto.
I like sport and try to play football and squash when I can, I used to mountain bike a lot when I was younger but now just enjoy going ever now and again (It’s difficult living in a city where there are no hills!). I support Manchester United but don’t hold that against me it was inherited from my parent class! I also enjoy watching F1.
Originally from Taunton I discovered this town wasn’t for me when my friends and I had no choice of nightclub to go to as there is just one. It also took 40 minutes to get into and then played your classic Bryan Adams and “I would walk 500 miles” tracks, a great sing along when drunk but not every week…
